Agence Stock Photo: 25 ans d'histoires
[Agence Stock Photo: 25 years of stories]
2012

As a member of the Montréal-based Collectif Stock Photo since 1994, Caroline Hayeur was part of a retrospective exhibition that traced the history of the photographers’ collective, founded in 1987. She was also the artistic director of this exhibition, which toured throughout Québec and in Argentina.

Agence Stock Photo: 25 ans d’histoires brought together images by 13 photographers who have been part of the collective over the years. The exhibition presented over a quarter century’s worth or reportages, blending photographs of important social movements with glimpses of daily life. It featured images from significant news events in Québec between 1987 and 2015: the Oka Crisis (1990), the Stanley Cup riot (1993), the Québec referendum (1995), the Summit of the Americas (2001), the Québec student protests (2012). It also presented reports conducted across the globe both individually (turning 20 in Moscow, oil pollution in Kuwait, desertification in China, etc.) and collectively (Haïti, enfant chéri, 1987-2010).

This retrospective was first presented at the Zoom Photo Festival Saguenay in Chicoutimi, in 2012, then later that same year at the Maison de la culture du Plateau-Mont-Royal, in Montréal. An updated version was presented in 2015 at the Archivo Nacional de la Memoria (ANM) and at the IMPA la Fabricà (a former factory that was the motivating force behind an important workers’ rights movement), in Buenos Aires (Argentina), in collaboration with the Asociación de Reporteros Gráficos de la República Argentina (ARGRA).
