2008-2011

New technologies have redefined the concept of distance: "elsewhere" has become global.  Whether in Quebec or Shanghai, the effect, configuration and appearance of video-conferencing conversations (such as on Skype or its ancestor, iChat) are the same.

These images are screen captures from exchanges via webcam. The series began on a visit to China in 2006 and continued over other trips taken by the artist, her family and friends.

Whether from exchanges while traveling in Jordan or Europe or from her daughter's study abroad in Paris, these are not just discussions shared remotely, but rather moments of daily life lived together.
Using this technology we can have a daily relationship with our loved ones wherever they are.

From an impromptu beginning, the photographer started to collect images of these video conversations, slowly giving life to this spontaneous project.
